An Illustration
“A week in the life of a traveling ad”
A basketball team of a local school orders tins of mints for their team with their school mascot on them.
They buy them as a reminder of the school since it will be closing due to lack of funds.
One of the players, Jane, brings her mints on the trip to Haiti where she will work with orphans there.
While in Haiti, Joey, a little Haitian boy, starts to cry after tripping on his broken flip flop.
Jane immediately remembers the peppermints in her backpack…they may comfort him. They do.
All the children join in to enjoy the peppermints until they are all gone, and the tin is kept as a treasure by Joey. He especially likes the cool mascot design on the top of the tin.
The week passes and Jane and her team depart for home.
As their plane leaves, another plane arrives.
This one carrying the very business men who were responsible for digging new wells in Joey’s village.
During their stay, Joey tells one of the business men (Tom) about the kindness of Jane and how she shared her special mints with all the children. He showed Tom the tin.
Tom looks at the tin and recognizes the mascot logo. That was the mascot for the same school that he just read about in his local town paper…the one that was to be shut down.
“If this school is equipping such kind-hearted students, we need to help them in return!” said Tom.
Upon returning home, Tom does some research and finds out that his company can sponsor the school to keep them up and running!
Countless kids get to continue their education, and Tom’s company becomes known as the community-caring business that others now choose to collaborate with.
Good was done; connections were made; and businesses mutually benefited…
AND all because of a $2 tin of mints!
It makes you wonder what will come from your “traveling ads”, doesn’t it?
